Azurite (Easter Pocket 1994)
Big, thick, bold blades of deep blue Azurite constitute this elongated cluster from the classic Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. This special pocket, one of the few named at Tsumeb, i snoted for unusually lustrous, tabular balded crystals. The two large crystals measure approximately 3cm across and there is another 1.5cm bladed crystal as a companion. The remainder of the piece consists of several smaller crystals most of which are partially complete but still blue and lustrous faces. Ideally this piece would display beautifully in a vertical orientation to show off the big blue crystals that originate from the famous Easter Pocket found on the 8 level in 1994. There is some local, micro-abrasions on the larger crystals and any imperfections of the smaller crystals isn't obvious because they are lost in the dark blue color of the piece. A fantastic and aesthetic Azurite from one of the last great pockets mined at Tsumeb before closure! One of the better miniatures from this pocket, we have seen for sale.
