Description
The Huanggang Fe-Sn mining complex in Inner Mongolia has, in short order, become a world class locality for Scheelite as well as other minerals. Iconic Scheelites such as these grey ones, along with very rare, gemmy purple crystals, burst upon the scene from 2012-2016. Sadly, production has slowed dramatically since then. Doubly-terminated, the largest crystal is a substantial 6.7 cm, tip to tip. The luster is good, and the complex, tetragonal habit of these Scheelites is sharp and appealing, especially the way the large and small contrast and complement each other. Speckles of Molybdenite include the Scheelites, and they all rest on an Arsenopyrite matrix. The Scheelites have classic blue-white fluorescence, which adds to the high quality and excellent aesthetics of this small cab.
