Uchucchacua is a silver mine that is actually more known worldwide for its scalenohedral Rhodochrosites, an unusual habit for the species but a signature form for this old mine. From the finds of the 1980s-1990s, this is a plate with superb, gemmy crystals that is in unusually fine condition. This extraordinary pocket features over a dozen crystals that are all gemmy, cherry-red, and with good luster. The largest crystal is 1.5 cm and nearly doubly-terminated. The Rhodos by and large are in very good condition (only one has a missing tip), a remarkable achievement for which the miners deserve kudos. The aesthetics of the pocket and the quality of the Rhodos would make this choice, small cabinet specimen a welcome addition to any collection.
