Elbaite Tourmaline
This is a gorgeous, almost bubblegum-pink, divergent cluster of Elbaite Tourmaline from Molo Village at Momeik, Burma of a style that we rarely see available on the market. Thanks to the keen eye and efforts of Bill Larson, some very unique pieces were preserved from the cutters, as otherwise this would have gone to lapidary use! This piece, one of the best examples of this style, is actually composed of several, tightly held Elbaite sprays emanating from a small area at the base and the multitude of thin glassy, pastel pink prisms rise upward and coalesce into a common, broadly curving, translucent to transparent termination that is bubble gum pink in color. White, pearly, flattened rosettes of Muscovite grace the base of the Tourmaline sprays and provide wonderful contrast. Complete all around, dramatic, and imposing in person. Mark Mauthner photo.
