At 693 grams, this massive, textbook spessartine garnet comes in at approximately 2 pounds in weight. It is nearly complete all around! The piece is one of the larger examples which would have been found, in such quality, back when a single large deposit was discovered and mined by Maasai on tribal land (circa 2005). At the time, I bought a significant portion of the discovery, including a few large pieces like this that have been put back since the find. No more have come since. This crystal is complete except only a small damaged face on back, on one edge.
