This is a rare and unusual specimen of a sharp, octahedral Tantalite after Microlite. Herb had to have them analyzed to be sure, of it! We have never seen this occurrence before or after, and it seems unique in the world. This sharp crystal, 1.8 cm on edge, has excellent luster with a fine etching that adds interest and relief to the faces. The matrix is sugary, bladed Adularias that range up to about 1.7 cm on edge. From a very small find made in the summer of 2007. This was one of the finest cabinet pieces, for aesthetics of the matrix and sharpness/quality of the crystal. Herb kept this in his collection.
