Aragonite var. Zincian
This is a lovely group of sharp, lustrous, translucent, pale yellow prismatic Zincian Aragonite that has a typical style unique from Tsumeb and which seems to have gone through two name changes in the last decade or so (lead-rich Aragonite formerly known as Tarnowitzite; or the zinc-rich Aragonite variety Nicholsonite, which does not seem to be considered a species anymore). The luster of the crystals is excellent, as is the pale yellow color. The main 2.1 cm crystal is well-terminated, as are the other smaller, sidecar crystals that reach 4mm. The large crystal, although overall hexagonal in shape, is a composite and consists of several cute crystals in parallel, to slightly subparallel, growth with multiple terminations at the top. A very aesthetic thumbnail for the species, for any African TN suite! Sadly for me, I bought it as an expensive thumbnail "Mimetite" at one time but it really is a Zincian Aragonite ("Nicholsonite") impersonating a Mimetite - easy to be fooled by the shape and the color!
