Stilbite
A highly unusual, visually dramatic locality specimen showing a pair of lustrous white crystals forming a “V” shape at 2.8 x 2.8 x 1.3 cm. A perfect rare oddity for any USA thumbnail collection in particular! You almost never see USA zeolites in such competitive quality. This was found in an old quarry that provided rocks for the Skookumchuck Dam built in 1970, that created a reservoir on a tributary of the Chehalis River. The presence of zeolites in the quarry was identified by Ray Lasmanis, the state geologist for Washington. It is from Dave Bunk on December 9, 2013. Photo by Jeff Scovil. Featured in the book, Refined Elegance (Mineralogical Record, Nov. 2022) on page 130.
