This is one of those rare, seldom seen tourmalines from the legendary "Six-Pack pocket" which came out in 1984. Although repaired (by the original miner Byron Weege) in the middle, it has excellent terminations on both sides and the classic color with purple caps, that made this pocket so famously known in San Diego circles (and now, with the publicity of the namesake piece in 2012, to all). The specimen could be re-repaired to modern standards with a little work and time, but honestly the repair is decent enough from the front that I have not thought to do it. Joe Budd photos.
