Gorgeous deep purple Amethyst from Jackson Crossroads , the most famous of all USA Amethyst localities. This came from miner Rodney Moore in the early 2000s; when many of the best pockets were hit. Having one large 7.8 cm sharp crystal with split parallel growth terminations and a brilliant glassy luster. This incredible US locality is known for its color and is widely recognized for producing world-class Amethyst specimens. The Amethyst transitions from a light lavender, cloudy yet translucent prismatic base with wisps of a darker purple to an almost magical deep purple color that is highly translucent to transparent with gem-quality Amethyst at the termination. Backlighting produces a rich royal purple glow throughout the crystal. The front display face has no visible damage with razor sharp clean edges and terminations. The other side is mostly contacted from other Quartz crystals and matrix. The prismatic faces have fine horizontal growth striations with a few areas on the terminal facies exhibiting subtle crystal growth features when the light angle reflects just right off the lustrous faces - mesmerizing in detail up close. While this is a nice textural component that complements the piece, the headline for this Amethyst specimen is the super saturated purple color! The glow is just hard to beat! Truly amazing in person. Ex. William (Bill) Larson Quartz Collection. This collection was built since the 1980s and on exhibit for decades in his jewelry and mineral store in Fallbrook, California.
