Gorgeous blue crystallized azurite little matrix. This is in good condition all around. The Holbrook Mine, located in the Warren District of Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona, is one of the most significant historical units of the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company. Geologically, the mine tapped into massive sulfide and oxide replacement ore bodies hosted within the Mississippian Escabrosa Limestone, where copper-rich fluids created spectacular secondary mineralization zones. It is internationally famous for producing some of the finest mineral specimens in the district, most notably the deep blue azurite, brilliant green malachite, and rare native copper formations that define the Bisbee style. Historically, the Holbrook shaft was sunk in the late 1880s and became a primary producer of high-grade copper ore during the peak of Bisbee's underground mining era. The mine operated extensively through the early 20th century, but as the district shifted toward large-scale open-pit methods, the underground workings at the Holbrook were eventually phased out by the mid-1900s. Today, the mine is remembered as a premier locality for world-class oxidized copper minerals, with many of its finest treasures now preserved in the Smithsonian and other major museum collections.
