A choice miniature for this locality.The Shangbao Mine in Hunan Province, China, is a well known polymetallic deposit that has been worked for tungsten, lead, and zinc from hydrothermal vein systems cutting through granitic and metamorphic rocks. Mining activity has produced both ore and a wide range of mineral specimens, making the locality especially important to collectors. Among the most notable minerals from Shangbao is fluorite, which occurs as well formed cubic crystals often displaying attractive colors such as green, purple, or colorless, sometimes with zoning or phantom growth. These fluorite crystals are commonly found in association with quartz, calcite, and sulfide minerals, forming in open cavities where conditions allowed for excellent crystal development. Specimens from Shangbao are highly regarded for their clarity, sharp crystal form, and overall aesthetic quality.
