This is an outstanding specimen of crystallized groutite hosting a myriad of groutite sprays covering an irregular, three-dimensional surface on this very nice small cabinet piece. This is an absolutely excellent display piece for the species with scintillating, somewhat intergrown discs of shiny, submetallic gray-black crystals from 3 to 7 mm across and averaging 2 mm in thickness. The crystals are in excellent condition with the exception of the contacted area in the middle of the piece that shows the somewhat radial aggregate nature of the crystals at the interior. Even the backside shows distinct crystals at the periphery with mostly granular aggregates elsewhere along with a breccia fragment of light colored matrix. An excellent example of this manganese oxyhydroxide. From a one time pocket, which we recall turned up to market in 2022 with just a few flats for sale at one of the show - this being one of the better specimens. Note, it might also be more valuable and more aesthetic as two specimens, if split down the middle...each would be quite nice!
