A beautiful specimen of gemmy and bright, highly-glassy spinels from Vietnam. The color here is a luscious cherry-red, with the largest of these pyramidal crystals reaching 9 mm on edge. The contrast against the metamorphic, crystalline, white marble matrix makes the spinels 'pop' visually. And with the spinels reasonably lined up, the aesthetics are taken to an even higher level as they resemble great red pyramids rising above white sands. From a small lot mined in 2004 with this choice color, this small-cabinet piece has an outstanding quality and look to it.
