Very nice across the front of a calcite crystal covered matrix. This is in good condition.
Mining in Tsumeb, Namibia began in the late 19th century after the discovery of a rich polymetallic orebody containing copper, lead, and zinc with numerous minor elements. The Tsumeb Mine became one of the worlds most famous mineral localities due to its complex pipe like deposit and the exceptional variety of rare and well crystallized minerals recovered from deep underground workings. Large scale production expanded under German colonial administration and later companies through much of the 20th century, with smelting operations established at the site. Although primary mining ceased in the 1990s, Tsumeb remains renowned among mineral collectors and geologists for its unique mineral diversity and historic importance.
