Spessartine Garnet
A classic spessartine garnet showing off the famous mandarin orange color, from early 2000s finds on Maasai tribal land in Tanzania. This 25-gram crystal is unusually equant, complete, and with consistent color. Most of them had some portions with browns or too many inclusions to really be as pretty as we would have wished. This was a one time find, and harvested from surface with hand and small tools at that time. Material from the top layers was too weathered; and material from lower layers was too embedded in schist and included with ugly rock portions: only a section of the middle of the deposit produced these bright orange jewels which glow when backlit. Now, scarce on the market. This crystal is complete and pristine all around.
