Fluorite on Pyrite
A main fluorite crystal that is gemmy, has intense color, and is super sharp in form serves as the anchor and visual center for this attractive display specimen of modern green fluorite from Peru. The gem octahedral style, truly transparent, is very rarely seen here despite a common variety of other habits or lesser quality transparency. This piece is complete all around, and has such a nice balance of green atop the golden pyrite...just right for display, without overwhelming the fluorite with matrix. The crystal atop is 2.4 cm across. It has a "look" of a very fancy and refined specimen, but we need to admit and show you that the crystal to the right of the major top crystal, is cleaved or more likely just contacted where it grew against something, and has a flat face looking to the right. This limits the valuation more than the look of the piece. All the smaller crystals are otherwise gemmy, bright, transparent as well; and all perched against the sparkling golden matrix of crystallized pyrite. Fluorescent under UV light, as a bonus.
