Fluorite with Topaz (rare combination)$2,800.00

Fluorite does not, in our experience, often associate with topaz and so this is a very unusual combination specimen from this tungsten and rare-earth-element producing granite-hosted deposit in southeastern China. We obtained only a few specimens from a single pocket, in about 2020. Fluorite crystals are at the center of the piece; and they are surrounded by at least a half-dozen, glassy, pale blue, semi-transparent topaz crystals. The cubo-octahedral fluorites are distinct with the two, approximately 3 cm, pale purple, transparent to translucent crystals having a glassy luster and some barely distinct zoning. The third, large, 3.7 cm, intergrown fluorite is light purple like the others, however, the top face of the crystal has a milky white zone about 2 mm thick with several 1 to 2.5 mm white octahedral fluorite crystals atop. The larger fluorites are in turn surrounded by eight, super glassy, pale blue, transparent at the exterior and more translucent at the interior, topaz crystals that range in size from 1.5 to 4.1 cm in size. A subtle colorful, yet interesting combination specimen from this mine. The fluorite fluoresces a rich purple under long-wave UV and the topaz yellow under short-wave UV. A surprising specimen that is also quite nice on display, and is simply unusual by any worldwide location.
