Fluorite with Calcite phantom$8,500.00

A large, gorgeous, zoned, sea-green fluorite cube from China with some unusual subtle qualities to it! It is simply impactful in person. Everybody who saw these in China had the same reaction - WOW. There look like TV sets, in a way, looking into window upon window. This big, glassy, crystal measures 8.3 cm across and 7.4 cm tall; and is transparent pale sea-green on the outer 4 mm rim. But you look closely and see another subtle, but distinct 4 mm zone that is also transparent with a slightly darker hue; and then the larger central, rich seafoam green interior has the outside edge highlighted with another band yet (1.5 cm, thick zone of snow-white calcite). That phantom band of calcite is more obvious when you look from the back of the piece, where it is contacted and revels the interior detail better. The fluorite and calcite formed over, multiple generations and the calcite was once a thin layer on the original (phantomed) fluorite, upon which more generations of phantom fluorite later accumulated! The subtle peripheral zones and the large interior phantom provides amazing effect and aesthetics! The edges of the big crystal are sharp with only a trace of chatter; although one corner is slightly compromised and we have chosen to leave this natural without restoration. A gorgeous fluorite! This is from a small find in Zhejiang - the exact mine locality remaining a mystery. We are aware of only three such specimens, all big and single floaters like this (the largest now being in a prominent private Chinese museum).
