Fluorite with Dolomite on Quartz$6,500.00

Large glowing, gorgeous green complex, stepped-growth cubes of fluorite are set on drusy quartz and accented by pink dolomite on this super attractive cabinet piece from the Manaoshan Mine in China. These lustrous, gemmy and complex mint green cubes have light blue centers and grace a plate coated in drusy quartz with some accessory pink dolomite. The saturated, mint green fluorites range in size from 1.3 to 5 cm across with the cube faces being totally gemmy, amidst the stepped growths on the edges that are also transparent and add considerable character! The large crystal and the smaller, juxtaposed crystal both have pale blue-green centers that glow subtly through the glassy cube faces. These beautiful fluorites are set on a sparkling quartz-coated plate of matrix. A loose cluster of lustrous, saddle-shaped, pink dolomite crystals are set off to one side add a nice touch and date this piece to the "dolomite pocket" found early in 2013 and mined over the next 2 years (Rob was underground at the time here, and saw it in situ). That little accent of dolomite shape and color at the base really makes the piece a higher level. The fluorite crystals are largely complete all around with only a few minor breaks on the back periphery. The piece displays dramatically in a case and represents a markedly different style than we have seen previously. We have not had these for many years, for sale; and found this in a stash with collector Steve Smale in Berkeley, which we obtained. Steve specialized in Chinese minerals from the 1990s to now, and had accumulated a huge collection while he was based in Hong Kong over some of those years. And so, these are now fresh to market, from the original find, after over a decade in a collection.
