MICROCLINE var. Amazonite
This classic individual Microcline var. Amazonite crystal from Colorado, is from an usual locality - Wigwam Creek in Jefferson County. It presents a very good classic monoclinic shape, missing just the very lower part of the crystal where it grows out from a small white matrix and at 5 cm tall is a good size. Its upper termination is excellent and shows a 'stepped' double, or twinned termination, whilst the body of the crystal gives the impression of being a single crystal. Colourwise, it is a soft, pale turquoise-blue, not nearly as intense as some Colorado Amazonite but certainly a very obvious blue. Ex David Hardman Collection, who probably obtained it during the 1960s or 1970s.
