FLUORITE
This rather lovely amber-coloured Fluorite is perhaps not from where you might expect. With a cluster of quite large (the largest reaching 3.5 cm on edge) intergrown crystals, showing an excellent glassy lustre and with great translucency and with bright internal reflections this is not from the Hilton mine in northern England but from Inselt Schacht mine at Annaberg-Buchholz, in Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany. Inselt Schacht is a very old mine, dating back to the early 18th century, but mineral collectors have, within the past decade, recovered some impressive Fluorite and Baryte specimens and it is likely that this superb specimen is from these explorations. Not only does this piece display extremely well, but the main crystal also presents a zonation in colour along one edge. One rear corner of this main crystal is missing, but the other crystal faces and edges are in exceptional condition. A very classy amber Fluorite from Germany.
