BARYTE on FLUORITE
The combination of Baryte and Fluorite makes a really striking contrast on this lovely cabinet-sized German specimen from the ancient Inselt Schacht mine at Annaberg-Buchholz, Erzgebirgskreis, Saxony, Germany. This mine operated during the early 18th century, but fine Fluorite and Baryte specimens were collected there during this century. The matt cream-pink coloured Baryte has crystallized as cockcomb aggregates sat upon a bed of glassy pale cream-green coloured aggregated cubic Fluorite crystals. With no appreciable damage, other than around the side edges where the specimen has been trimmed, it makes for a very lovely display piece, and quite different from most other combinations of Fluorite and Baryte from worldwide localities. Ex Jesse Fisher Collection.
