Aragonite
Here is something unusual, a Bisbee Birds Nest aragonite. These “Birds Nests” formed post mining when mineral enriched waters dripped from the ceiling to the floor coating small rocks in successive layers of aragonite forming cave pearls. The surrounding ground would also become cemented into place by the newly deposited aragonite. The resulting form was a hollow dish that was filled with white ovals which the miners likened to the appearance of a birds nest. This particular specimen was coated in plaster of paris on the back side. From the collection of Richard K. Smith
