Wulfenite
A very impressive, robust wulfenite crystal from the Old Yuma, probably from the 1960s that literally stands out from the crowd (upright, dramatic display like an orange column from 2001 Space Odyssey!). The crystal features great color combined with unusual size in terms of height and thickness that just pulls the eye in - hard to convey by photo, but there is not another like this. It looks like a fiery orange column, standing straight up! This is NOT your usual wulfenite thumbnail. It is special, impactful, and was treasured by Alex Schauss in his extensive wulfenite suite. Alex's notes say: Mark Hay collection (Phoenix, Arizona) at the 2018 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, February 9, 2018, with label. Illustrated: Rocks & Minerals, 2019; 94(1): 19. Ex. Nancy Collins collection; Ex. Mike Walter (Nicholsville, New York) acquired by Hay in October 2009. Specimen was included in a special wulfenite exhibit by the Arizona Mineral Minions, at the 2019 “Wulfenite is Love” TGMS Show February 14-17. Laszlo Kupi photo.
