Iowaite on Brucite
A well balanced, showy, metallic luster thumbnail specimen of two species that are BOTH very unusual in the Kalahari, and seem to only occur together here. Iowaite is a very strange magnesium mineral that is, apparently, supposed to be blue-bluish but came out in a few small discoveries here in the 90s as red plates, from the manganese field (and so perhaps, this is manganese rich Iowaite). We have only ever seen few good specimens. This piece, I recalled only when I saw Alex's collection notes to remind me I had traded it out of Bill Pinch long ago in some deal: Alex's notes say, From: Rob Lavinsky (The Arkenstone, Richardson, Texas), February 1, 2018, with Bill Pinch label.
