Leiteite with WARIKAHNITE and ? STRANSKIITE on Tennantite
Leiteite is an exceptionally rare zinc arsenate species, known from only one natural occurrence - that at its Type Locality in Tsumeb mine, Namibia. Due to its nature as sectile layers many specimens of this species are loose crystals, detached from matrix, so to get crystals associated with other species is quite nice. This miniature specimen features an area of pearlescent white crystallized sectile to fibrous Leiteite measuring at least 2 x 1.5 cm in extent on dark grey metallic Tennantite (probably Tennantite-(Zn)). To add to its desirability, this specimen is also recorded as containing another Type Species from Tsumeb - Warikahnite - as tiny amber-yellow glassy microcrystals around the contact between the Leiteite and Tennantite. Small areas of bluish-green at one end of the specimen are tentatively recorded as the extremely rare species Stranskiite. Ex Hettrich Collection.
