Malachite ps. Azurite altering to Rosasite(?)
This is a fine thumbnail of a Tsumeb classic: malachite after azurite. The slender, prismatic azurites have been completely pseudomorphed into malachite, and the main crystal rises quite majestically up from a cluster of smaller pseudos. The look is quite structural, and this lovely miniature rather reminds me of a sculpture. That might sound pedestrian, but the geometry, form, and color are aesthetic. Note that the color is off...a little too blue-green, not the usual green. We suspect this is partially altered to rosasite. The tiny sparkly crystals are calcite, some included with hematite.
