Mimetites have always been some of the most attractive and intriguing species from Tsumeb. This thumbnail has two notable mimetite crystals on it. The largest, at 1.4 cm, is a translucent, hexagonal barrel with a soft, pleasant, custard color. Complementing it, a little further along the matrix, is an absolutely classic gem mimetite crystal 4 mm tall. A vivid yellow and totally gem-clear, this little jewel is from the famous "Gem Pocket" find in 1971. Highly representative for Tsumeb's most famous pocket of mimetite, this is an attractive piece that is a fine thumbnail-sized specimen as an example of both find and species. We rarely see any for sale.
