Cerussite in a Dioptase cast

Highly aesthetic, this really unique small miniature sized specimens is one of the most eye-catching combinations in this size range for these two signature species of Tsumeb. The piece begins with a cast composed of a 2 cm crust of mm-size dioptase crystals. They are gemmy and lustrous, and the crust retains the crystal shape of whatever the original mold was. Roughly parabolic with definite faces, the dioptase layer displays well from both sides with a glassy scintillation. Sitting in the concave portion of the cast is a cluster of translucent-to-gemmy cerussite crystals. Colorless with adamantine luster, the contrast between the two species, especially when it comes to color and form, is quite striking. It is a terrific miniature, totally unique, and super sparkling! Tsumeb was most prized for its combinations, and here we see why. Out of thousands of specimens in this size class, this one will stand out for the unusual aesthetic.
