PPlate of azurite crystals up to 18 mm long, with a few small areas of fibrous chatoyant malachite. This piece came from the Electric Blue Pocket at 1140 level, found in May 2010. Characteristic of the find, it was pseudomorphed to malachite and then the crystallisation of more azurite resumed, leaving the malachite pseudomorphs with a final thin veneer of azurite, oriented epitactically to the original azurite crystal, creating the ‘electric blue’ feature so frequently noted with Milpillas azurites. This find was announced at p.459 of Volume 41 of The Mineralogical Record. Several photos of specimens from this Pocket are to be found at pp.508-516 in Volume 52 of The Mineralogical Record (in the Special Issue on Milpillas). Ex the collection of Michael Günther.
