Görgeyite is a very rare hydrated potassium-calcium sulfate found at only a dozen or so evaporate-type deposit localities worldwide. Only this location gives display quality, pretty, large crystals. They came out in the 1990s and early 2000s, I was told, when I bought some from the Fersman Museum at the time. I bought this from the museum and sold it to legendary New Jersey collector, Dr. Ed David - one of the collectors who built the Golden Age of Minerals on which we inherit now - and later got this back somehow (not from Ed, directly, but much later after it ended up in a collection in England!). This very sculptural cluster of large crystals features several lustrous, translucent, straw-colored, multi-pronged crystals from 3 to 7 cm in size, some of which appear to be doubly terminated. This is of most unusual quality, size and symmetry for the species. This remote locality has produced best of species. A fine, pristine example obtained long ago by me from the Fersman Museum of Moscow.
