Emplectite
Emplectite is an uncommon copper-bismuth sulfosalt and this old-time specimen is likely from the 1800s-early 1900s, from a famous silver mining region. It features metallic, gray needles to 1.4 cm which is large for the species! They are hosted in a slightly oxidized quartz-sulfide vug near the apex of this piece. There are three, divergent, prismatic crystals of tin-white Emplectite needles that have a partial, white oxidized coating on them along with a few smaller needles in and around the vug. Sawn on the backside. This is a classic and significant older specimen from a bygone era of mining at the Johann Mine in Germany. Rare and excellent historic material for the species with relatively huge crystals.
