Phosgenite
A glassy and gemmy single crystal of phosgenite, an uncommon lead chloro-carbonate, from the classic Monteponi Mine, Sardinia, Italy. These are old and highly desired pieces from a famous locality. It is two-thirds of a sharp, 2.8 cm, champagne-colored to amber, diffusely zoned crystal that is largely complete. While it has some internal fractures transecting it, it is intact (and those could be moderated in lab, as well). It is a superb GEM crystal of a mostly complete, tetragonal phosgenite. Old material of this quality is seldom seen for sale today.
