China has produced huge numbers of fluorite specimens from dozens of localities across the country. A number of good occurrences are located in Fujian province. One of the rarer localities is the Yongchun mine. Fluorites from this locality consist of cubes with dodecahedral modifications and lots of growth stepping. The colors rest within a palette of pastel blues and purples. This 11.4 cm example is particularly attractive with fluorite crystals dominated by the pastel blue color, but with accents of purple located in zones around the corners of the cubes, indicating that they may be associated with a period of octahedral growth that is no longer visible in the outward form of the crystals.
