Fluorapatite with Magnetite, Chlorite, Epidote, Quartz (1930)
A very nice assemblage specimen of six minerals from the Dashkesan skarn. The matrix is a limestone with magnetite, then fluorapatite, epidote, chlorite, quartz and then small crystals of calcite on one broken surface. The magnetite are largely buried under the epdiote and chlorite, but they are visible from the sides and on the sawn base. There are four separate fluorapatites which have glassy terminations and are up to 1.67 x 1.1 cm. The apatites are concentrically color zoned which is evident in their surface coloration. Most the exposed surfaces are opaque white but the end of the termination faces (pyramid and pinacoid) are translucent straw-yellow. No damage.
