This is an exceptional Heights mine Fluorite, particularly with regard to the size of its crystals. Reaching 4.5 cm on edge, and with many crystals over 2.5 cm on edge, this is a spectacular display piece of uncommon quality. The whole specimen (save for some very small Calcite crystals on the back) is Fluorite, as a bed of large intergrown crystals. These crystals are transparent to translucent and show a range of colours from a dominant pale blue-grey to flashes of pale purple. If one looks carefully, it can be seen that the outer edge of each crystal is colour-zoned with a thin line of purple about 2 mm in from the edge. Internally, the crystals are full of characterful detail: with wispy, cloud-like inclusions, and internal cleavage planes visible but not from damage as these crystals are in remarkable condition, with super sharp edges. A magnificent Heights mine piece. Ex George Farr collection.
