Fluorite
“Blue John” fluorite as it is called in England is a variety of yellow and purple banded fluorite from the Castleton area of Derbyshire. The term was coined in the late 1800s by miners in the region and has persisted to this day. The material is highly sought after for its use in lapidary and the objects produced from it are highly valued as antiques.
