Dioptase in Calcite$7,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Green, Dioptase-included Calcite is one of the most treasured beauties known from the legendary Tsumeb mine in Namibia. This magnificent cabinet-sized display specimen is a stunning example of this combination, and features razor-sharp rhombic Calcite crystals all of which are in superb condition. Individually, the largest Calcite crystal reaches 1.5 cm on edge and 2 cm corner to corner. Their colour comes from a layer of small emerald-green Dioptase crystals coating the surface of a hard siliceous rock matrix prior to the formation of the wonderfully formed colourless Calcite crystals on top. However, there are also tiny inclusions of green Dioptase locked within the Calcite rhombs, providing a mystical wispy green patternation. This really is a wonderful, and exceptionally rare specimen from Tsumeb. It comes from the generations-old Weyand collection which remained in Tsumeb until earlier this year.
