Pyromorphite
An incredibly fine miniature with large pyromorphite crystals and stunning color from old finds in the Bunker Hill Mine in Idaho. This is a well-composed miniature featuring largely isolated crystals of bright green-yellow pyromorphite on a bit of iron-stained matrix. There are two prominent crystals measuring 1.4 and 1.1 cm in length and are robust, curved, barrel-shaped, hexagonal prisms with ever so slightly concave terminations, as are all of the other crystals on this super aesthetic piece. The dozens of smaller, just as vibrant pyromorphites on the piece vary between 3 mm and 1 cm in size and are randomly oriented. Found in the 1980s, pyromorphite from this classic U.S. locale are over 35 years old since last found. The location is closed and now a toxic Superfund site so no more will ever be recovered here. A remarkable miniature from this great locality! There is a small cork glued in the back of the display specimen to better aid in displaying the specimen.
