Clinozoisite
Numerous vertical or near vertical oriented, olive-green clinozoisite crystals are growing up from a fibrous, cream colored nest of tremolite from the Vermont Asbestos Group quarries in northern Vermont. The clinozoisite crystals are bladed prismatic, translucent to locally transparent and vary in size from just under 1 cm up to 4 cm in length and nearly all are terminated except some at the periphery. There are several crystals that comprise this open cluster with all of them being finely striated parallel to their length and displaying wedge-shaped terminations. The olive-green clinozoisite crystals have great contrast against against the the matted, fibrous tremolite at the base. Ex. George Loud and originally collected by M. Haritos in 1993 and then bought from Phil Scalisi in Springfield, MA 08/2007. Illustrated in Rocks & Minerals article, vol. 71 #4.
