Scorodite
This quite colourful miniature specimen from Hingston Down quarry displays a very rich assemblage of supergene secondary iron arsenates. Originally labelled as 'Scorodite', the Scorodite forms rich crystalline crusts infilling cavities within heavily oxidized Arsenopyrite-Quartz veinstone. The Quartz remains as does some residual Arsenopyrite but it is the secondary species which are of most interest. Alongside the grey, blue-grey and sky blue Scorodite are vivid yellow-green areas which are most likely the rare species Arthurite. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2002.028.
