Cronstedtite
A mixed massive Pyrite, Sphalerite and Chalcopyrite sulphide matrix is overgrown by a thin (1.5 mm) thick layer of finely crystallized Pyrite. This layer of Pyrite has oxidized on its surface to a thin film of orange Goethite upon which numerous glossy microcrystals and crystal aggregates (to 2 mm in diameter) of the very rare iron silicate Cronstedtite has grown. This is a very fine British Cronstedtite and looks extremely fine under magnification. This is a classic from the 1980s/1990s workings at Wheal Jane. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2003.007.
