Chalcopyrite with Pyrite and Siderite$300.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This is an extremely rare old-time classic from Clausthal-Zellerfeld in Lower Saxony, Germany. Miniature in size it presents a bed of Siderite, or perhaps Ferroan Dolomite, displaying fudge coloured thin curved rhombic crystals at one end of which two significant, seemingly octahedral, or just pyramidal, Chalcopyrite crystals sit. These are quite pure internally as shown on the fractured rear face, but their surfaces are densely scattered with tiny rounded Pyrite crystals. Two very old labels accompany this fine specimen - one, handwritten, appearing to date to the middle- to late-19th century and the other, to the late-19th or early-20th century.
