NATIVE Silver with Calcite$3,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
When you ask a mineral collector what the most famous locality is for Native Silver you can almost guarantee that they will say Kongsberg, such is its fame and reputation. This superb miniature reveals the classic thick wire Native Silver protruding from Calcite veinstone. This veinstone shows great detail, showing the transition from fine-grained and inclusion-rich at the vein edge across to coarsely crystallized pure white Calcite internally. The Native Silver sprig rises from the boundary between the coarse and fine-grained Calcite. Look carefully at the Native Silver and one realizes that this is not merely a twisted wire, but in fact a linear aggregate of blocky crystals whose faces are surprisingly well defined. Indeed, this may well be Native Silver after Acanthite (itself after Argentite). Small bunched wires of Native Silver branch off from the crystallized stem in several places, showing flashes of bright metallic pinkish silvery colour compared to the darker historic patina seen on the Native Silver crystals. This is a really fine smaller Kongsberg Native Silver, with real character and detail.
