Cerussite
Rarely do we see a robust, super attractive, textbook, single twin of colorful cerussite like this from Tsumeb, or anywhere! For some reason, most cerussite twins from here are in multiples and very eye-catching, however, perfect twins like this 60 degree "elbow twin" are super rare! This is an elegant, glassy, lovely cream colored perfect twin with two sturdy twin components, one elongated. The first has an excellent "pointy" termination and the other has a complex termination that actually hosts a reticulated twin. The long, terminated twin component measures 4.5 cm in length and the other is 3.6 cm. There are even subtle, thin twins that can be seen inside a transparent end, that protrude to the surface on the top and bottom. It is impressive and showy at three inches in length and almost an inch across with sharply defined edges and faces along with a great termination. Both twin components have gemmy areas more in their centers flanked by translucent areas at their edges that actually demarcate subtle phantoms. Remarkably this old-timer has little damage with only a small contact area on the larger crystal and a couple of incomplete twin ends of the reticulated twin that are barely noticeable. A fantastic and beautiful cerussite twin from this classic locality! #73390 in the Pohl collection's important Tsumeb suite. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher #73390
