Copper
China has produced, for some reason, relatively few fine copper specimens from relatively few locations — much smaller production than you would expect given its landmass! This is unusual, but then consider what America would be like without the outlier of Michigan's copper district, which has a very special geology to its origins. Fine copper crystals are just rare in nature, relatively speaking. This is from a famous copper mine in China which is also known for copper secondary minerals, and has actually produced plenty of copper over decades...but this was mostly smelted as the working and economic ore of the mining operation. It has only gotten out to the mineral market in dribs and drabs, inefficiently, over time. This is a particularly elegant and finely crystallized fanspray shape. If you compare pricing on these to other worldwide coppers, this is valued at 20 percent or less compared to its equivalent look from a Michigan Mine (admittedly, those are old and antique specimens). Copper crystals from China are really a value compared to fine older coppers from other localities, and we purchase quite a few today when I am traveling through the copper mining districts in Anhui, Hubei, etc.
