Azurite
This is the best thumbnail we know of in a small pocket obtained from a Greek collector of note, who had kept it back for himself when handling this pocket some years ago. It is a stunning and GEM translucent/transparent azurite crystal measuring a full inch (2.25 cm) tall. It has just the right amount of matrix to accent and mount it for display as a competitive thumbnail. Do you know how hard it is to find a truly phenomenal azurite thumbnail, even though the species is so common? It is nearly impossible to find a crystal fine enough, preferably with matrix, to be a competitive thumbnail specimen in advanced competition, and hold its own against tourmalines and the usual fancy rare species that get awarded points as they stand out from others. This is a truly special, rare azurite specimen worthy of top thumbnail collections. It is from the personal collection of Greek collector, miner, and dealer Christos Spiromitros. Collected in 2017.
