Millerite
A true USA classic, these old millerites from the 1800s are almost never seen for sale. This is, in fact, the single most massive, fine, and robust specimen we have seen in 40 years, on the market. It speaks for itself, to those who have ever been looking or known about them; and many collectors of classics consider these to be the best (for size and this style) of species. The specimen is a gorgeous large miniature with impeccable provenance from the George Vaux (1863-1927) collection (traded out of Bryn Mawr when Harold Arndt was still curator, to the late Rock Currier). Note the back of the original Vaux label, which is rarely preserved by the way, dated 1895. Comes with a custom base. Note that Vaux was likely the original owner from the time it came out, as he was one of the largest collectors in his region and one of only a few to specialize in excellent visual pieces of rare species at the time.
