Malachite with Wulfenite and Cobaltoan Dolomite$500.00

This is a very colourful combination piece from Tsumeb mine in Namibia. Very large miniature in size, it consists of an ironstone matrix within which a slightly concave cavity forms the main display surface. This cavity is almost entirely lined with finely acicular velvety green Malachite as undulating slightly botryoidal growths. Upon the Malachite are patches of contrasting bright pale bubblegum pink Cobaltoan Dolomite as etched crystals. The fact that the Cobaltoan Dolomite does not form perfect rhombic crystals, but feathery sprays, is not overly apparent as one's attention is drawn more to its unusual colour rather than its form. Juxaposed with the Cobaltoan Dolomite is an unusual, waxy looking, greyish-brown tabular Wulfenite crystal, 1.5 cm on edge. This is a quite large Wulfenite crystal, but its presence is easily missed because of its colourful neighbours, and because it lies completely flat with an uneven stepped surface. A very unusual, but attractive specimen from this most famous of mines.
